Council Committee To Hold Public Hearing on Streetcar Plan on November 17

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

The D.C. Council’s Committee on Public Works and Transportation (Councilmember Jim Graham, Chairman) has announced that it will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m. to consider a resolution that would approve the District Department of Transportation’s (DDOT) recently submitted DC Streetcar System Plan. The public roundtable will be held at the John A. Wilson Building at 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Room 412.  The Council must approve the plan before DDOT may receive $34.5 million of the roughly $50 million in capital funds the Council approved for streetcars in May.

Members of the public are invited to testify at the hearing.  If you are interested in testifying, you may be added to the public witness list by contacting Ms. April Hawkins-Mason by email at or telephone at (202) 724-8195 no later than Monday, November 15 at 5:00 p.m. and request to be added to the witness list. Individuals will be given three minutes to present oral testimony, and individuals representing organizations will be given five minutes. Witnesses should bring 16 copies of their written testimony to the hearing.

Those who are unable to testify in person may submit written testimony for the official hearing record by sending it to Ms. Hawkins-Mason by email at no later than Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 5:00 p.m.
